Daniel Pitino Shelter is a non-profit, non-denominational organization which has served the community for over 25 years through successfully moving homeless persons from emergency shelter into permanent residency while supporting their needs and providing essential services and resources. We serve many through our emergency shelter, transitional housing, soup kitchen, case management, rapid rehousing program, prevention and intervention services, and outreach programs.
This holiday season we reflect on our blessings and know our community is our biggest blessing. We wish you the best of these upcoming holidays and ask that your prayerfully consider discussing the following with your friends and family.
The average cost for us to house and provide the above services to one family for a month is approximately $1000. The national estimated cost to provide homeless services to a family is ($3,184 to $20,031 https://www.huduser.gov/publications/pdf/costs_homeless.pdf) per month, according to Housing and Urban Development.
We are seeking Room Sponsors:
$20-$500 Friend of DPS
$1,000 Sponsors a Room (Family of Four)
$2,500 Sponsors a Room (8 individuals)
$5,000 Sponsors the Soup Kitchen (1 month) Approx. 6000 meals
All sponsors will be given a tax deduction, a plaque outside the room (these demonstrate hope and a sense of belonging to the clients),
