For years, Owensboro Grain has supported Daniel Pitino Shelter. In 2023, Cargill purchased Owensboro Grain and, through the acquisition, partnered with us to help reduce food insecurity. Cargill’s sponsorship helps to ensure Daniel Pitino Soup Kitchen can continue providing daily meals to the community around us. We serve annually over 77,000 meals to the public, who otherwise might not get a hot meal. Cargill’s mission to reduce food insecurity and the mission of DPS to serve those experiencing homelessness and food insecurity are a perfect match. We are overly grateful for Cargill and our other corporate sponsorships.
Cargill’s purpose is to nourish the world safely, responsibly, and sustainably. Supporting our local communities is an essential part of our commitment to being a responsible citizen, and we will deliver on our purpose through our priorities and focus areas of:
- Food Security and Nutrition – supporting programs that provide access to safe, nutritious food
- Farmer Livelihoods – focusing on safety, specifically for fire and rescue departments, and support for the next generation of food and agriculture leaders and farmers (FFA and 4-H)
- Talent Development and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – partnering with local colleges and universities that align to career paths for Owensboro Grain and access to quality education for underserved minority youth
Global Food, Agriculture, and Bioindustrial Specialists | Cargill
Owensboro Grain, a Cargill Company
It’s been over 155 years since growers and sellers started coming together in our first grain warehouse. These days, we connect people around the world. But we keep things local. Only by building trusting relationships with a range of partners can we fulfill our purpose: to nourish the world safely, responsibly, and sustainably.
Today, the need to make our food system more sustainable and resilient is urgent. From our seat at the center of the agricultural supply chain, we have a unique ability — and responsibility — to help. Now is the moment. And our global team is heeding the call, innovating to empower our partners and communities.
We’re working with farmers to increase regenerative agriculture and reduce environmental impact. We’re creating everyday earth-friendly items, like feed that reduces methane emissions and waste-based renewable fuels. And we’re harnessing the power of technology, using artificial intelligence to keep animals healthier while making producers more productive.
As we envision the future we can create together, we reflect on the values that have steered us from the start. We put people first. We reach higher. We do the right thing — so our customers can succeed and our communities thrive. It’s a long-term view that guides us to listen, adapt, and remain resilient as the world sprints forward.
It’s also how we’ll meet the changing needs of the people we call neighbors and the planet we call home — today and for generations to come.
