For 25 years, the Daniel Pitino Shelter has been serving the homeless and near homeless community – not only in Owensboro and Daviess County, but surrounding counties in Kentucky and southern Indiana. We are the only family shelter in this region that welcomes families, single dads and moms, and, of course, single women.

25 year anniversary celebration to feature local pro motorcycle racers
In celebration of the Daniel Pitino Shelter’s 25th year serving the homeless in our community, we’re hosting Winner’s Circle Owensboro – featuring local professional motorcycle racers, Roger Hayden, Nick McFadden, JD Beach, Hayden Gillim and Jake Lewis.

The 1996 Untouchable Cats in town to support Daniel Pitino Shelter
The Daniel Pitino Shelter for homeless families is hosting a night with “The Untouchables” Thursday, June 14th, to help raise money for families living at the Shelter, and to give local University of Kentucky Fans a chance to meet and talk with members of the famed 1996 NCAA Championship Team.
The Shelter will also honor the memory of Ben Hartz and Rick Kamuf that evening. Hartz, a founding board member of the Shelter, served for over 17 years. As a local contractor, Hartz handled all of the construction needs and continued to support the Shelter after his time on the board. Kamuf, a well known local farmer, was involved in local and national farming issues, and was a significant supporter of the Shelter.
Daniel Pitino Shelter receives funding from Kentucky Housing Corporation
The Daniel Pitino Shelter applied and was approved to receive funding though Kentucky Housing Corporation’s (KHC) 2017 Balance of State ESG funds in the amount of $58,232. The Daniel Pitono Shelter applied for the funding as part of its continued commitment to preventing and ending homelessness in Kentucky and will use the funds to help get women, children, and families…
